Miriam was in her room in thought, when Johnson came to her.
” I really feel that I should do pregnancy test. I feel that our desire has been fulfilled” Miriam said, feeling excited.
“Miriam calm down. It’s always exciting, but when your hopes fail, it really hurts” Johnson said and Miriam became sad.
“Johnson, I dont know why I have this feeling. These days, I feel very dizzy and tired. It’s really making me feel that I am getting closer to what I want. But why? Why would I have to remain childless? Why would I have to remain childless all my life? No. That can’t happen” Miriam said and burst into tears. She hugged Johnson, weeping, while he consoled her.
“It’s okay Miriam. God would give us what we want at the right time” Johnson said, sadly.
In the afternoon, Miriam was in hospital, waiting for test report. The doctor came to her.
“Here’s the test report Mrs Miriam” The doctor said, handing the paper to Miriam, who looked very nervous.
Miriam was walking towards a car park, where she had parked her her. She was in deep thought. Suddenly, someone snapped her fingers across Miriam’s face. And behold, it was Sophia.
“Hmmmm. Miriam. This same name I hate. What are you doing here? Anyway, you dont need to answer. I already know. I heard someone say that you came here for some test. Pregnancy test. Hmmmm. Miriam, you and your false hopes. Too bad! Stop trying and just give up. You can never be a mother of Johnson’s children no matter how you try. The other day, you bought medicines, complaining of being sick, and then you began to suspect pregnancy. Just accept the truth. It’s right in front of you and me. You can never have a child, so just get ready to get your hopeless self out of Johnson’s life” Sophia taunted and left to enter her car. Just then, Miriam who had been in deep thought, ran up to Sophia, smiling. She hugged Sophia tight, causing Sophia to be very shocked. She then released her.
“I am finally going to be a mother to Johnson! I am so happy! Miriam screamed in excitement and joy, but Sophia stood, confused and shock.
“Have you gone mad? Sophia asked.
“I will soon become the mother of Anthony’s children and now, everyone’s doubt about me would be proved wrong! Miriam said, very happy.
“then why were you so confused and tired when I was taking to you? Sophia asked.
“Well, it’s just happiness. I was in thought of how God has finally decided to bless me with a child” Miriam asked.
“Gosh! What has come over you? Should I call the mental asylum? Sophia said in disgust, and Miriam brought out the pregnancy test report from her bag.
“Here’s the pregnancy test report. I dont know how to express my joy” Miriam said and handed the paper to Sophia. Sophia read the paper in shock. She found it difficult to believe.
“Sophia, join me and celebrate. Infact, everyone in Johnson’s family must hear this now” Miriam said in delight.
“Shut up! Just shut up! Sophia screamed to Miriam’s shock.
“That you have finally become pregnant for Johnson, doesn’t mean that you would be accepted. I still want you to leave with yourself and your ill-luck, out of Johnson’s life” Sophia said rudely, causing Miriam to stare in shock. Sophia entered her car and drove off, while Miriam kept rejoicing for the miracle.
Sophia stopped her car at a corner, looking very siappointed.
“I thought that one day, I would get Miriam out of Johnson life due to her problem. But today, the problem has been stopped. I had told my brother, that he would be punished, for marrying Miriam, but now he would be happy to be free. No! I won’t let that happen. I will show them that whatever I, Sophia say, will always happen” Sophia said in her mind,
Miriam called Johnson’s number, and he picked.
“Johnson, we’ve got it. What we’ve been looking for since five years! Miriam screamed in excitement.
“what? Really? Are you kidding? Johnson asked, and Miriam just laughed.
“Johnson, words camnt express my happiness. Just come back home” Miriam said happy. To their surprise, both started shedding tears of joy.
